It's that time of year just after the clocks have gone back and before the busy tinsel covered holiday season kicks off. A perfect for introducing some delicious, nurturing Yin Yoga into your life.

---What is Yin Yoga?---

Yin Yoga is a style of yoga where we hold floor based poses for around 3-5 minutes. It is a slower paced, calming and more meditative style of practice.

The benefits of Yin Yoga are threefold: PHYSICAL, ENERGETIC and MENTAL. Each week we will explore how a Yin Yoga can benefit us on these different layers. 

Week One | Physical

We explore how Yin Yoga improves the health of the 'Yin' tissues of our body, our connective tissues (bones, ligaments, tendons, cartilage and fascia) Holding yin poses when the muscles are cold puts a healthy “stress” on these connective tissues as well as improving flexibility and range of motion in in the body.

Week 2 | Energetic 

As we explore the energetic benefits of Yin we look at the Traditional Chinese Medicine system of meridians (energy channels). You might think of this system as a network of telephone cables or electricity wires which send messages throughout our body. Yin helps to unblock this system. 

Week 3 | Mental 

The mental benefits of our Yin practice is explored through slowing down, finding stillness and bringing mindful awareness to our experience in each moment letting go of judgement as best we can. 

Each week will also include pranayama (breath practices) and meditation and of course relaxation pose at the end - Savasana :)

--- About your teacher ---

Jackie  is a Yoga Teacher based in Reading 

Jackie has been teaching for over 2 decades and is a senior yoga alliance teacher with over 10000 hours under her belt.

Jackie believes that anyone can do yoga and her approach is simple, unintimidating and light hearted. She gives clear instructions and offers options for different abilities, focussing on breathing well at the same time as building strength, balance and flexibility. Jackies classes are welcoming and accesible to everyone, regardless of age, size, level of fitness or previous experience.

Jackie has completed numerous teacher training programmes in yoga and Pilates, the most influential being Sarah lo level 1 and 2 Yin TT and is working towards advanced level 3 over 150 hour in yinTT . With her own issues with disk degenration she has become qualified in myofascial ball and foam rolling release and often combines her classes and workshops with teaching particpants these techniques. She is also a qualified sound therapist and has completed her level 3 gong practitioner and is working towards her level 4 and runs sound bath events. and is very passinate about the healing effects of sound. She teaches and organises retreats in Spain and Tuscany and the UK.
