Why a Yoga and Sailing Retreat in Greece Will Change the Way You Vacation

Have you ever returned from a holiday feeling like you need another holiday just to recover from the travel itself? The frantic airport dashes, the rigid hotel schedules, the pressure to "see it all", it can often feel like we’re just moving our busy lives from one location to another, without ever truly pausing to breathe.
If you’ve spent years prioritising everyone else, your children, your partner, your career, your aging parents, you might find yourself wondering: When is it my turn? When do I get to reconnect with the woman I was before the world told me who I needed to be?
At Ohso Yoga, we believe that travel should do more than just change your scenery; it should change your state of being. That is exactly why we created our Greece Sailing Retreat. It isn’t just a trip; it’s a soul-enriching journey designed to help you rediscover your joy, your freedom, and your flow.
In this post, we’re diving into why combining yoga with sailing through the turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea is the ultimate form of wellness travel, and how it can fundamentally shift the way you experience a vacation.
The Healing Power of the "Blue Mind"
There is a profound reason why we feel so drawn to the ocean when we are stressed or depleted. Marine biologist Wallace J. Nichols calls it the "Blue Mind", the mildly meditative state we fall into when we are near, in, on, or under water.
When you join us for a yoga and sailing Greece adventure, you aren't just visiting the water; you are living on it. The gentle, rhythmic rocking of our traditional wooden yacht acts as a natural lullaby for the nervous system. From the moment you step aboard in Corfu, the weight of routine begins to lift.

On land, our minds are often cluttered with "to-do" lists and digital noise. At sea, your horizon expands. As we glide between the hidden bays of Syvota and the dramatic cliffs of Paxos, the vastness of the Ionian Sea reminds you of your own potential. It’s a space where you can finally hear your own thoughts again.
Moving with the Rhythm: Yoga on the Deck
If you’ve only ever practiced yoga in a four-walled studio, practicing on the deck of a boat will be a revelation. Imagine waking up to the soft glow of a Greek sunrise, the air tasting of salt and wild herbs, as you step onto the warm wooden deck for your morning Vinyasa flow.
Yoga on a boat requires a unique kind of presence. As the yacht moves subtly with the water, your body naturally finds its centre. You aren’t just "doing" yoga; you are co-creating your practice with the elements. We offer:
Morning Vinyasa Flows: To awaken your spirit and energise your body for a day of exploration.
Evening Yin Practice: To ground your energy as the sun dips below the horizon, turning the sky into a canvas of burnt orange and soft lilac.
Meditation & Breathwork: Designed to clear the mental fog and help you arrive fully in the present moment.
Chanting: A form of meditation which vibrationally massages and activates your Vegas nerve to activate healing and renewal.
Whether you are a seasoned yogi or have never even touched your toes, our practices are inclusive and non-judgmental. As I always say, yoga isn't about the pose; it's about coming home to yourself.
Your Floating Sanctuary: Life Aboard the Yacht
One of the most common anxieties about sailing is the "cramped" feeling people associate with boats. Let us put your mind at ease. The Yacht is a magnificent 40-meter traditional wooden yacht, a Greek karavoskaro, that blends old-world charm with modern comforts.

Think of it as your private, boutique hotel that just happens to move with the wind. Each cabin features:
Private Ensuite Bathrooms: No "shared boat showers" here. You have your own sanctuary.
Air Conditioning: To ensure you stay cool and comfortable during the balmy Greek nights.
Spacious Sun Decks: Perfect for reading, napping, or simply watching the islands slip by.
Shady Comfort: Space to sit and read or snooze on the sofas or hanging chairs out of the sun.
Because we handle all the navigation and our on-board chef prepares fresh, nutritious Mediterranean meals, your only job is to be present. From mezze platters to locally sourced olives and sun-ripened tomatoes, every meal is a celebration of the senses.
The Sisterhood at Sea: Why Solo Travel is Empowering
Does the idea of traveling solo feel a little daunting? You aren't alone. In fact, 70% of our guests come solo.
There is a unique magic that happens when a small group of adventurous women gathers on a boat. Away from the roles we play at home, mother, wife, employee, we get to be just us. Our retreats foster a "Sisterhood at Sea," a supportive, inclusive community where you can share laughter over a sunset BBQ or a quiet moment of reflection during a sound bath.

We prioritise safety and connection, ensuring that from the moment you land at Corfu International Airport, you are held and supported. Many of our guests arrive as strangers and leave with lifelong friends who "get" the courage it takes to say yes to yourself.
If a week away feels like too much of a leap for your first time, you might want to explore our UK Weekend Retreats to dip your toes into the Ohso Yoga community first!
A Glimpse into Your Greek Voyage
What does a day of wellness travel actually look like when you're sailing the Ionian? Here is a tiny taste of our typical itinerary:
07:00: Rise with the sun for a gentle Yoga & Meditation session on the deck.
09:30: A nourishing breakfast as we sail toward a new hidden gem, like the Blue Lagoon.
13:30: A swim stop in crystal-clear waters. Grab a paddleboard or kayak, go snorkelling, or simply float and let the salt water hold you.
17:30: A soundbath or Restorative Yoga session to integrate the day's experiences.
19:30: Dinner on the boat or at a hand-picked local taverna in a village like Parga, enjoying authentic Greek hospitality.
Late Evening: Stargazing from the deck with a glass of local wine and the sound of the waves.
Why 2026 is Your Year to Say "Yes"
We often tell ourselves we will wait for the "right time" to take that big trip. We wait for the kids to be older, the project to be finished, or for a friend to finally be free to join us. But the truth is, the "perfect time" is a myth created by our inner critics to keep us playing small.
Our 2026 dates (June 26-30 & September 7-11) are designed to capture the best of the Greek summer: warm waters, golden light, and that unmistakable feeling of freedom.
Whether you want to deepen your practice, find a community of like-minded women, or simply disconnect from the digital world to reconnect with your soul, this retreat is for you.

I’m Stacey, and I created Ohso Yoga for women who want to grow without being preached at, and who want to adventure without sacrificing comfort. I’ve seen firsthand how five days on the water can wash away years of burnout and leave you with a "glow" that lasts long after you've returned home.
Are you ready to stop putting yourself at the bottom of the list?
If the call of the ocean is strong but the timing isn't right, we also offer life-changing South Africa Safari Retreats and Online Classes you can take from the comfort of your own home.
